Governor Kemp Signs Bill Eliminating State Licensure of Laboratories
posted: May 11, 2021
On May 5th, Governor Kemp signed House Bill 93 (as recommended by the GAP), eliminating state licensure of clinical laboratories here in Georgia. Rules for certification now fall back to CMS/CLIA regulations. It is important to note that other rules governing clinical labs, such as mandatory reporting of certain infectious diseases, remain in place.
Laboratories here in Georgia are urged to contact the Department of Community Health with specific questions about the new law and its implications.
